I tried the blade mod today. I cut a new set of V200D02 blades back 1/4" as shown in the photos.  There is no doubt it increased forward flight speed into the wind.  There was still a little porpising into the wind but it was greatly reduced.  It did cut down on the lift a lot.  I had to wind up the revs more than normal to keep it in the air.  But it was really flying fast.  I probably should have cut the blades back 3/16" first.  That might be a good compromise between lift and forward speed.  I flew my Contra at the same time and it did it's usual pop ups when going into any forward wind.

Oops, I forgot to add, please pause for a moment of silence for my friends Contra.  It's sitting about 100' up in an oak tree at this time.  Don't ask me how he did it.  It will probably be there for the next 100 years.

That's a great idea except for two things. Don't have a paint ball gun and worse, we're right next to a high school.  We were actually on their grounds.  If we were spotted with that gun around there you'd be watching us on the news.  I just went back and there's a lot more wind today and it is moving around some.  Sunday there's supposed to be 30 mph winds so there's hope.  Here it is. He had a 30x zoom on his camera. It looks like the main blade got hooked behind the tail boom which is why we couldn't spin it out of there. Now the main gear is stripped.

Find the heli in the tree!

 :bravo:

Nice job!!

A shot of the bark on the trunk would help, but it looks like a maple.

And 100 ft. is way beyond my expertise. My last extraction was an 18 ft. extension ladder perched on the back of pickup with 15 ft. pole pruner. I had to trim some branches to get it clear enough to free fall down to a point where I could reach it.

At Lowes or Home Depot, they sell those long collapsible extension poles for changing light bulbs in cathedral ceilings. They prolly go about 20-25 feet. But 100 ft.---  :215: and  :222:

Another method is with rope and hook. You would need to fire the rope with the hook up around the offending branch an try to shake it loose.

And finally, don't kids climb trees anymore?

Good luck.

That's pretty high  :222: I think Randy's rope and hook method will work, or you can wait for the strong winds to get your heli back  :130: :130:

Thanks for the help Rumblecloud.  I'll talk the rope idea over with my friend.  I couldn't bring myself to ask a kid to climb this tree.  It's scary high.  Now they're calling for snow on Saturday before the winds pickup on Sunday.  Just our luck.  Flying helis in winter in new england is a challenge.

That heli is still up in that tree.  I think it's settled in for the winter.

:132:  A hibernating heli!   :laugh_4: :laugh_4:  Looks like you might have to wait for spring before you spin again.  I'd seriously ask a kid to climb up and have a go at getting it down for you.

Maybe, just maybe, you get your local Fire Dept guys to get it out for yu like they do with cats.  Just tell them you have a new method of rescue for their training day.   You just never know.

Lol.  You guys are funny.  Next time I go to check on it I'll take a picture of the whole tree from a distance.  It's intimidating.

@chop.
I have heard of ESC / Brushless upgrades, but not a Gyro as you still require the 4in1 for FBL stabalization.
Helipal have the RX units in stock @$65 .. http://www.helipal.com/hm-v200d02-z-06-rx2440v-receiver.html

I don't think a Gyro would work either, as a Gyro controls a Servo, not motor speed which is required by the V200D02

Good news.  The 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 mph did the trick yesterday.  I found it in the middle of a thorn bush 5 feet from the tree it was in.  It's in pretty good shape for having been out in the elements for 3 weeks. I'll leave it to the owner to bring it back to life.
