after doing it with the motor connected everythings fine now. Just have to check pitch track the blades then it can fly.

Hey guys I finally have something to update. I have good news, good news, bad news, then more good news. First good news today started out with 20mph winds which completely died down to nothing which allowed me to finally take my 600 out for a test flight?hover and.......... it flew. it flew well. no vibrations and no tail wag. when i did bench tests i had tail wag at 60% with my dx8/ futaba 401. not in the air. when it took off it lifted straight and low just like I wanted. I had a 5-6 foot hover at 50-60% stick just perfect. Now the bad news I did end up crashing. Finally good news me and the house are okay and the heli just has a limp going on. While I was hovering it drifted ever so slightly towards me, I was at least 50 feet away and behind a steel fence for cover, my yard isnt to big but I was only hovering, after seeing what happened to sytamra I panicked a bit and chopped the stick like I could on my fp. It was the slightest slowest drift but thoes of you with 600's know it's big I wanted it on the ground not in my face. I was about 4 feet off the ground at the time. the heli was perfectly level but it was too close to the fence I couldn't see the recycling bin right under it and the blades came down on it. I heard the sound of the plastic being hit hit hold and ducked but luckily nothing flew. The heli only broke one link head the tail boom supports main blades(ugh) and a chip in one tail blade with I have a backup set of. Even though i'm on the 15 day dl it was overall a good day I actually built a machine that flies well. It flies sooooo much better than my falcon 40v2 fp 7.4v

Hippie, I'm so glad to hear your airborne. I took two other steps between the Falcon40v2 and my 600, but yeah, there is no comparing them.

60% gain on the DX8 might be kind of high. On the DX6i, HH gain runs from 50 to 100. But on the DX8, HH gain runs from 0 to +100. (Rate mode runs 0 to -100). SO 60% on DX8 is like 88% on the DX6i. But hey, if it holds without wagging then your good.

One thing I did and I'm glad, is that I decided to fly with gain at the #1 setting. But I set the gain at the #0 setting to be lower. At one point I got an awful wag. It had been hovering steady and it caught a gust of wind, but instead of handling it, the gyro went into a wag of increasing proportions. The gain was too high. But since I had a lower HH gain programmed already, I just flipped the gain switch down to 0 and it stopped immediately.

I find I have set all my dual rates and gain to the middle positions, with a lower setting below and a higher setting above. That way I can not only experiment with different settings while flying, but if I find I need to back off for some reason real fast, the cure is only a switch away.

gene I did exactly what u did. dx8 has 3 gyro points point 1 i have 60% 2 30% and 3 -30% for rate mode. I started at 30% cause 60 wagged on the bench but 30 wouldn't hold in the air so I landed....successfully, flipped to 60 and it held fine. actually considered 65 or 70. ill try it once the parts come. I qant to thank anyone who ever posted on this fourum, I never would have had a clue without it.

Just remember, unless you have gone through he trouble of exactly setting up the tail servo to be perfectly aligned with no drifting in rate mode, you probably shouldn't have a rate mode setting on your tx.

I never bothered to set up my tail for rate mode and I make sure I can't get into rate mode by having no gain position set for rate mode.

life_for, there is a HK600-GT thread on this forum. I can't imagine that there is anything you want to know about the HK600 that isn't covered there someplace.
