Servos twitching
« on: November 17, 2010, 05:36:46 PM »
Hi all, after setting up my electronics found that all my servos are twitching. They do follow TX commands but in an erratic way. Any clue?

Thanks

Do you have your power line seperated from the other wires,  like the esc wire on the left and the rest on the right....

Electronics are:

HK401B Gyro
Hobbyking SS Heli Series 50-65A ESC
OrangeRx Spektrum DSM2
ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 20C
HXT900 9g Micro Servo for collective
DS65HB Digital High Speed Servo 6.5g for rudder

Tx is a Spektrum DX7

Power line from ESC's BEC is not separated from servos wires yet. I have all wiring outside Heli just during setup, but will take that as a good advise  :130:

I fully charged my battery and that reduced significantly twitching amount, but still present mainly at center sticks.
Sometimes it stops by moving a little any stick but it actually works well when moving throttle stick. Motor is not connected yet (missing connector but they are now on their way here).

So.... any ideas?

When I was building my HK600GT,a couple of my servos pulsed or twitched and it turned out to be the links from the servo horns to the push-pull mechanism's that then go to the swashplate were not quite long enough therefore putting too much pressure on the servo gear itself. So after scratching my head for a while I adjusted my links a little longer, but yet equal lengths, and the reduced pressure on my servos fixed the problem.Hope this helps. :propeller:

Thanks, twitch problem appear even before set links or control horns on servos. My first approach was to bind TX and RX and then connect all components electrically to confirm proper function that's when twitch appear.
I think its more an interference issue....

I had a bad servo that caused other servos to twitch. What was funny is that the servo would be stable when the heli was on it's right side, but twitch like hell if the heli was on it's left side. Replaced one bad servo, the others were fine.

I will unpluged one by one and test different combinations and see what happens...
Someone told me not to mix power wire from ESC with servo wires. I change setup to send ESC wire at right side of bird and servos on left.... same result :215:

I had the same problem as Gene T described, 1 bad servo affected the rest so maybe this is the problem...

I found source problem. As my other thread says, my ESC's BEC is giving 8V and that is what causes twitching!
I had a RX battery from my old airplane stuff, charge it, test it and hooked it to my setup and that's it..... twitching is gone! :220:

Only problem is that I will need a new ESC... :212:

Any good advise? I was watching for Hobbywing 40A

I use 2 Turnigy Plush 40A and like them very much.
I also had the budget TP 40A which was nice to, I added and extra bec with the TP as it gave 2Amp.
