Just ordered an rc sailboat, and need help with setting up a transmitter. Which sticks on tx would control rudder and winch servos?

I can't seem to find much info on this subject on the net.

Can I use my heli TX for this?

also, I was thinking, could a head lock gyro from a heli, which controls the rudder drift, be used as a self  steering control for a sailboat? Hook it up to the rudder servo and it would act as a auto pilot. Is this already done?

I'm a total newbie to RC heli's and boats, but have many years sailing experience, so that's not a problem.

Thanks

For rudder I think you should use left stick (ch4) and for winch right stick (ch1). Yes, you can use heli tx. And I don't know about gyro. But it should work  :)

I would use which ever stick you are "handed". I am right handed and like to steer my boats with my right hand. Then use the left throttle stick for your sail control (no spring). I would not try and put any "auto pilot" on a sail boat. Most of the time in a knockdown the boat will right itself, but if you have an auto pilot it might over compensate and keep her over and maybe take on water and sink!
