Great video :138: How do you like this sim 4n6? I tried to run demo but my computer is too slow for it. It only runs without any lags on small window, but heli goes small very quickly.

Yeah. In a week or so it's going to be on the Heli-X web page!

After playing around with the sim for a while I contacted the guy who wrote the program and worked out a deal to make him a demo video.

Some of the training modes (like cargo, cage, and balloon training) took a lot of practice to look 'competent' in the video. But it definitely made my flying better.

I like Heli-X. At first I thought the helis were too stable, but then I turned on a little wind 5-7mph and that made things a lot more realistic. And all the recording for the demo was done on a mac. I wanted to do it on linux, but I didn't have a machine to do it on currently.

So them more I use Heli-X the more I like it. The bummer about it is that very few people in the US use it. Most of Heli-X users are in Europe, and more specifically Germany.

If I want to play multiplayer, I have to be on around 3 or 4 in the afternoon (9-10pm in Germany)

I think the physics are pretty good. There are a few issues, but I guess there will always be some compromises when trying to replicate the real feel and behavior of an rc heli in a sim. It's also written in Java so it's multi platform compatible.

Anyway, check out the free demo... Tell me what you think of it.

Oh.. the training modes are pretty cool too. They really made me realize how much less 'in control' I was than I thought.  :219:

well, i dont know but can it be i brought the name Heli-x to this site?  :propeller:
i remember i was talking once or twice about it, chat or forum, dont remember.

well, i use it 1 year now (ok, dont use it, i sometimes play around abit :D ), tried other sims and this one gives the best feel.

its written by a german, thats why it is not popular in the us. but hey, you gave it a try and maybe others like it too, so ;)

good to see a flight sim for Linux. I was able to run it on my ubuntu box. I'm waiting for my controller before I can use it though  :132:
how does heli-X compare to other popular RC sims on windows, especially the physics?

I think the physics are pretty good. I've tried real flight, so that's the only thing I have to compare it to. I think that is youbtun the simulation speed up to 120% it feel a little mire real, but a lot of pol scythe same thing about RF. Otherwise, the smaller helis (450 and smaller) are a little too stable in a hover, but turning on just a little wind helps this too.

For lifelike physics on a 450 I like HeliSim. It really handles like my 450. You just have to get oats the graphics, which are a little bland.

I use a USB tx from RealFlight G3 that was in the box with an esky coax that I bought......

If I had to buy one, I'd check out this one on XHeli ($17 - free shipping):

http://www.xheli.com/new6chflsico.html   -   It has switches you can assign to Idle Up and Throttle Hold... which are good things to have!
