Build a cheap 450 size heli

Ping I love those prices! Haha, thanks for the links! So the only diffrence is the Sport and Pro sets? Also How do i know which one I will need when I get my HK? You know what I will just shoot you a link of the one I decide to go with because I not 100% on the one I want, though I am looking at the $30 one. I don't really care fo the really nice rotor head and tail head because I will end up breaking them any who, plus saw some on Ebay for not to shabby of a price! Thoughts?

Just get them both and maybe 1 set from earlier version, such as SE or SE V2

Is the copter X products any good? I'm 64 and a newbie. I dont want to do any stunt flying. I just want to have fun on a budget.

Ok I used hs 5065mg cyclic servos
ds420 tail servo
futaba gy401 gyro
a 45amp scorpion commander esc
 a scorpion 2221-8 motor
also running this with a futaba 6ex fasst radio system
and just because I wanted to try it have a fma copilot system on the heli also
replaced parts are align main gear as the ones that came with it are not that great
have radix tail blades and maverik main blades
this bird flys really well

and yes this heli was built from a kit

First I have to say    Big Roy, is good to have you on board, now speaking about helis I have a copter X 250 and I am not happy at all with the quality, about 450 I have tarot, hobbyking and align, I can say that the quality of the metal parts of the tarot kit is comprable to align.

The most used kits are copter X, EXI and Hobbyking, I can't say nothing about the EXI kits but a lot of forum members say that of those three the best one is EXI but as I said, I don't have any EXI kit, but speaking about the kits I know, tarot has an outstanding quality  .

So between yesterday and today, I did some more work on getting my tail to hold better period with the Turnigy DS480 and GY48V. First off, I need to listen more to my elders and EXPERIENCED guys like you all. On my HK450GT it seems like the tail pitch rod was a little too long for any useful adjustment of the pitch slider. I needed more negative pitch at neutral on the servo to counter the rotor torque (which I also learned is in the opposite direction of the rotor disc direction... ..physics 101). So I cut about 1/16" off each threaded end. Next I had a little play in one of the tail blade grips since it was a little loose and some play in the ball hole on the pitch slider. I used a drop of CA glue in the hole without the ball inside and rotated in a circular motion. The idea was to make the hole slightly smaller to take out the play. Much better without any binding. Now with everything back together and shorter rod, I was able to adjust the servo position on the boom to get a perfect tail hold in rate mode I hovered for 2 minutes with very very little rudder input if any. Next I switched to HH and it was solid but towards the end of the pack started a slow drift. I also had to run a little less gain because it started to wag. Befroe I had to max out the gain but still would have drift. At this point I'm ok with it but will still look for a used GY520 from someone switching to FBL

I had to cut my rod shorter too...after that is was perfect

I flip the tail blade holder. Normally tail blade holder is controlled by the leading edge. I flipped it, so it controlled by the trailing edge.
This way I will get more pitch with bellcrank at 90 degree.

Hi big boy I have had a copterx 450v2 and copterx 500 and the quality is really good compared to my hk450 pro hk250gt.  I know that the copterx 250 has some problems but the problems also exist with all 250's including align (just not as bad).  If had the money I would choice an align kit but copterx and tarot are pretty good quality.

Great advice, Marc! These parts are almost exactly what I ordered for my HK450! 

It's worth note, however, that you'll also need a battery charger and power supply, which runs about $40 atleast.
And...the bane of my existence...SHIPPING. I ended up dropping over $50 to ship all the things I had to order.. 

to ship these things to Croatia will be more than 200$ lucky you...

Wow, this is good stuff. I was going to get my HBFP and while I learn to fly, save up to buy a trex 450, but I may just go the build route. About 40% savings, and seems like people are getting pretty decent helicopters out of it.
