I need to get an outer paddle control frame for my hbfp v2..

However every place I have seen is just absolutely bending me over without lube for the shipping.  NO way in hades does a outer paddle control fame cost $6.00 to ship 20 miles!    This seems to be a real growing problem on the internet...sellers lying about shipping costs.

Anyway, does anyone know of a seller in the USA who has this part in stock and who does not bone you for the shipping?  shipping for this part should be around 79 cents...no more.  Maybe a 1.00 if I was feeling generous.

xheli is supposed to have them in stock for $1.06 then $4.95 shipping.  Probably the best price you are going to find.

If you find somewhere let me know, I've had the same problem.

Xheli  ships me a HBFPv2 for $20 shipping, my next order of spares parts which fit in a USPS small mailer box ends up costing $10 shipping- utter rip off.

Xheli has a "spare parts" shipping option for $5 or so. You need to look at the bottom of the "shipping option" drop-down list. Still too much I agree.
I learned this the hard way.

$5 for a part is a problem. But it does cost money to ship things, and it does cost money to hire people to ship things. How many of you are willing to go do it for free?

$5 for a pile of parts all in the same box is not that bad a deal. Buy enough stuff in the same order and it's probably less than tax in your state (for some states anyway).

Many online retailers will bury the cost of shipping in tot he product and then tell you they are giving you "free shipping". Does anyone believe that it costs zero to ship a 60" Plasma across the country?

Buy anything from small retailers shipping small products and you will find what looks like high shipping costs. Try buying a specialty light bulb, or a single weird plumbing fixture you need. $5 then starts to look like an UNBELIEVABLE bargain.

Hmm.  Somebody defending high prices.  Guess hell froze over.

Lets look at this logically shall we?  I used to work in a "local hobby store" and it was not a constant hustle and bustle..most of the time was spent just standing around.  If we had to mail something, it was grab it off the shelf, pop it in an envelope, print the mailing label and put it in outgoing.  Perhaps 2 minutes work.

Now, if you are telling me that their job is worth a staggering $6.00/ 2 minutes...  Sir, I'd like to know how I get that job.
So lets say you had a real busy hobby shop...just for the sake of argument.  Keeping that same time-to-work ratio, the employee would be making 180.00/hour to simply put parts in envelops and mail them.   Since clearly no employee is getting paid that much, it amounts to..to put it politely...overcharging us just a tad.

Seems a bit much to me but I'm just silly that way.

But anyway, getting back to my original question:..  If anyone knows of a shop that has reasonable shipping costs, please post the link.

Cheapest shipping I know of is from Slick Zero. I think parts shipping is $1.95 in the U.S, or something like that. Been awhile since I've ordered from them, but I like them a lot. Highly recommended.

I think your math is a little off. ;-)

It costs money to ship things. I'd say MOST of the $5 is the cost of shipping. I just wanted to mention there are other costs as well, like payroll. If you are talking about a hobby shop that ships a few things a day, then sure, the cost of people is buried in existing operating expenses anyway. But if you are talking about an internet business shipping thousands of items a day, then you are at a point where you have to hire one or more people to spend 8 hours a day shipping stuff.

Hell, where I work we are not any kind of an internet business and we still have one guy whose 8 hour a day job is to ship and receive stuff for our company.

As for the cost of shipping, it doesn't hardly cost anything if you can stick it in a #10 business envelope, but the times I've shipped things that require a box and some packing material, it easily cost me $3 to $5 to get it out the door.

I don't even blink an eye when someone charges $5 for shipping, although less is even better.  I recently ordered like $140 worth of stuff from Cabelas, and shipping was $14.95.  I was OK with that, given they were knocking $20 off orders over $100.  I get to the final part of checkout, and they tack on $8 worth of tax.  It didn't even ship from my state!  I was livid at this point.  A mom and pop store had one of the items for the same price as Cabelas, and they offered free shipping.  I almost went with them, but Cabelas did have a great clearance deal on one of the other items.  I guess you need to weigh everything out.

Sorry to contribute to the tangential commentary, but I have to agree 100% with Gene.

One other point to add to his: If you are an online business shipping out merchandise, it is generally an imperative that shipping methods with insurance and tracking options are used so as to protect both the customer and the shipper in the event of damaged or "undelivered" goods. Using these types of shipping services cost quite a bit more than a buck or two for the basic postage or shipping cost. Exceptions could be made perhaps for very small or low value parts being shipped to an established customer with a good track record (ie; where "trust" has been established), but more generally the potential for fraudulent "I never received the package" claims is really quite large for businesses - businesses use logged tracking as part of their order fulfillment process to avoid this scenario, and the additional cost really has nothing to do with "sticking it to the customer" in my experience.
