Really wanted a SIM and didn't want to go the route of adding windows to my mac so went with the aerofly setup with the game commander.   Had it for a few days and I have a couple of thoughts and a question.   Keep in mind I've been flying a HB and an mSR for about half a year and have never touched a simulator before.

    Comments:
    1) Wish they had the helis I know about over here that the Phoenix sim does.  That would be really helpful.  I've tried most helis on there and think all of them are CP and not FP, which is a bummer.

    2) I'm sure the other sims are great in terms of graphics, but I think the graphics are very good and smoothe here.

    3)  I have never touched a 6 channel heli so I have no idea what the other controller settings are, and the manual doesn't explain diddly about this.  I'm not having a lot of luck with hover on most helis here, and don't know if there are any weird settings that I've set up.   I've calibrated the controller and reversed a couple of the controls to make it U.S. friendly, but that's it.  I really have no idea what the other stuff means.

    Question:
    1) Are there any FP helis on here or ways to make them FP so I can practice my hovering and orientation and controlled flight?

    2)  I can generally keep a fairly stable tail in hover with both of my real helis but can't come close on the SIM.  All the heli's just start moving away from me.   Is this normally what CP's do or am I doing something wrong?   Also, I find it difficult to fly and change direction with the nose constantly going up or down and the heli following.  Any suggestions, I'm just use to a fairly level heli when it comes to moving around.  This is tough.

    Thanks.  More later.

The piccolo is a FP bird, and it is on Aerofly.

The sim is tricky, especially the physics on Aerofly. I had the same problem but now that I'm using Phoenix it has vanished. I am not sure how to fix that one... sorry. Best of luck though!

either way I've gt it and it's tough to fly.    can't figure the landing game out instructions are spotty at best.

i thought fp meant you could not fly upside down.   nose in piccolo goes up and Dow  too, just less so.  also if I pull back on the right stick while giving throttle it will flip over.

That is more or less a stall in mid air forcing the heli over. If you try to sustain it the heli will just fall to the ground.

Well if you're looking for a good larger CP the Eco Brushless acts very similar to an E-Smart, according to Marc. That's the CP I used when I had the sim.

Here is a simulator for MAC, but I doubt that it is good: http://www.alphamacsoftware.com/index.php
Heli-X also has a version for MAC (0.9V is free, 2.0V costs 49 euros) http://www.heli-x.net/index_e.shtml
    Quote from http://www.phoenix-sim.com :
"Phoenix has also been tested on Intel-Macintosh computers running Bootcamp software and Windows XP/Vista/7.
Please note that Phoenix does not run on standard (non-Intel) Macintosh computers, or the Apple OSX operating system."

Here is a free simulator for MAC, but I doubt that it is good: http://www.alphamacsoftware.com/index.php

I just tried this one on my Mac and it is not free, although it should be as it is not very good.  It is a time limited shareware software (it will quit after a few minutes of use.)  I am also looking for a good simulator for Mac OSX.  If anybody finds anything good, please let us know.

I wish RealFlight would make a Mac OSX version of their product.  I would even be willing to invest in a Spektrum DX 6i to learn with.
