In case anyone is curious...I just noticed today the Blade SR just released yesterday for Pheonix!     I'm going to download tonight and start trying it out.  I'm thinking the SR will be my next Heli eventually...Its that or a Airwolf Madhawk...I'm really on the fence on that....I want something I can grow with and that can fly outside without the slightest breeze killing it....

Anywho....it's out there...I'd love to hear from someone with a Blade SR and with Pheonix to see how "real" it is...

That is one of the best things about Phoenix. Free updates for LIFE! Gotta love great value for the money.

The BLADE SR is popular.  But so is blood sausage, and Britany Spears.

No, seriously, I flew one the other day, and it was just okay.  You could hover it in light wind, but the tail was wagging, like the GYRO had too much gain.  I tried to turn it down, but the difference between too much and too little was so slight on the adjustment screw that we (I and its owner) never got it dialed in.  So I don't even know whether that's possible or not.

That heli is $200, and for that you could pick up an ESky Belt CP, and have money left over.  The transmitter will be better, it is a much bigger class (325mm blades, compared to 245mm), and therefore better in the wind, and it will have all kinds of room for upgrades.  It will also fly better out of the box, AND ....

.... it is also modeled in PHOENIX!

    Just My Two Cents ...

PS.  I also think the NINE EAGLES SOLO 2 is better than the mSR, and you can find one online, if you look, for just $79 ...  that's about half the price of the mSR.

I just had a major epiphany tonight. I've been having a ridiculously hard time hovering any heli in Phoenix without it moving all over the place on me. For days I've been practicing with no avail. I keep reading that learning to hover is just that hard to do. So I was poking around the forums checking if phoenix would work on a netbook so I could practice on the go. In those threads, everyone was talking about the FPS (frames per second) being pretty low on the netbooks, but it was usable.

So when I had a chance, I took a look at the FPS on my desktop in the flight information window.. It turns out I was only getting 9 FPS. I thought my video card could handle the graphics being set on the highest quality, but I was wrong.

I dropped all the settings back to the lowest quality and fired up a TRex 500, and I couldn't believe it, I was hovering the thing in one place!

Moral of the story is: If you are having massive trouble hovering in Phoenix, check your FPS. If it's low, peel back your display setting until you get a nice high FPS. I guess I'm now in the market for a new video card.

Your FPS should really be around 60, if it's not you should lower your settings until you find that balance.

    this thread may help:

    http://myrcguide.com/index.php?topic=3804.0

I recently had poor performance with Phoenix and was able to resolve it with a better video card. I had a really cheap card to start with because I am not a big computer gamer -- but when I bought phoenix I finally had a reason to upgrade the card.   I got a new ATI radeon 5770 which is a good mid-range card, and I can do phoenix full screen 1920x1200 with all the details on and I get 100 fps.  When I bought it a few months ago it was $175 but its already down to $150 now.

That's the card I'm running, only I am using it in crossfire. I've never even had a hiccup with that setup. Before that I was using the 3850 and it worked well too, but these are so much better.

I just got Phoenix today. Got it set up, and tried for a while. SO MUCH BETTER, than all other sims. I've used mostly free sims, and Clear View, which is not bad, but Phoenix beats it by all means! I am getting 30 fps, and it feels like it's hard to hover. I don't know if it's me getting used to it, or just video card's lack of performance....

drop the detail down so the frame rate increases and see if it is the same degree of difficulty and then you will know for sure.

Phoenix Sim is one of the factors making me lean towards a Spektrum system right now. Just can't decide between the DX6i and DX7, or wait and see what the DX8 will sell for. Had been looking at RealFlight, but the price to get it and all the add-ons is just insane. Phoenix with a DX5e is less than RealFlight! Just wish the sounds were a bit better.

The flight charateristics (IMHO) are better than Realflight... plus you can use your own Tx

I bought the eSky simulator with USB transmitter. Will this radio work with Phoenix?
