Our Copter X 450SE kits are here. (Hutch and I) I started talking about it in my other thread, but felt to avoid confusion it was best to start a new thread here.

One mental note: One of the complaints about the CX450SE kit is the tail is a little weak due to a possible pinch point in servo operation, causing the tail to freeze f the slide limit is exceeded. We see on my model there is a grub screw allowing for adjustment of the slide, with just a little adjustment, We are able to prevent the "lock-up" and hope that means we have solved the problem. Please see the close up zoom in, and correct me if I am wrong.

nice little gift box and packaging!

All the pieces, nicely packaged in seperate bags. Canopy looks awesome and is much stronger and better than my BELT CP v2 one (my only real comparrison).

Head assembly comes pre-assembled, and notice that small amounts of thread lock, CA Glue, Grease and Anaerobics Retainer

I installed my head assembly and main gear and skids. The copter is really starting to take shape.

Tail assembly, next shot is better!

This is a good shot of the "grub screw" that we adjusted, slide the assembly a little tighter and eliminated the pinch point. If you look carefully, the shaft is not slightly longer than the tail assembly, which came flush by default.

Thats it for now! Some good pictures to drool over.

    Thanks for looking! Comments welcome!

Alpha 400 3500Kv outrunner Brushless motor-

I have now installed my first motor, and I notice it seems very difficult to spin the motor, even before installation. It seems like it clicks through and doesn't seem to spin freely. Is this to be expected? I have two of them and they feel exactly the same.

The end result is once installed into the helicopter, it is quite difficult to manually turn the blades; can anyone share about this?

Thats all for tonight.. Goodnight all.

Yee Haww!   Congrats on a great kit! I have one just like it and it's a great flier!   A word of caution, do NOT use the threadlock that came with the kit!   It is the Red type and will make it nearly impossible to remove any screw  you use it on!   Other than that ENJOY!

As for your question on the motor...Yes, this is normal for an outrunner motor! You will be able to spin the blades freely in one direction, but not in the other!

    Hey Pinguin....

http://www.hobbypartz.com/alpha-400--3500kv--brushless-motor.html  for the Alpha 400 3500hv motor for only $11.70 each!

old_city_painter- Thank you. Turns out I tool my tail apart and the belt was rubbing as it had twisted itself as I inserted it into the chasis, and I was able to find that mistake. It runs much smoother now :)

I have purchased some blue thread lock, and will be going through those screws shortly. Since dad and I were building tonight, we are well on our way to completion. I even took a few minutes to put some cheezy stickers on the canopy, which i really like! (hey - they were free!)

    Pictures coming soon... later tonight.

R-H,  make sure you have absolutely NO twists in the belt! Can cause real problems! Also check to see that your tail blades turn counter clockwise (blades spin up into the down wash of the main rotor.  Just a couple of tips for ya!

FINALLY! DONE! (well, still need to tweak setup) but wow. I am very happy with myself!

Nice close up with canopy on! And YES! I am a huge superman fan so i threw that in the background!

    Here's my final hardware/cost list:

    Copter X 450SE Kit ($69.99)
    3 x Tower Pro 9g bulk servo ($2.77ea)
    1 x Exceed TX + RX programmable ($44.00)
    1 x Detrum GY48V Gyro ($17.70)
    1 x Volcano 30A ESC w/ 2A BEC ($18.00)
         programming card included
    1 x Alpha 400 (3500kv) Motor ($11.70)
1 x Futuba Tail Servo S9257($? gift to me from friend!)
    1 x Blue Lipo 11.1v 2200Mah Battery ($11.70)

If my calculations are correct, $175 does the entire helicopter (less the tail servo). Boy am I proud of the price/appearance of this kit!
I have CF blades I will be using, just need to order some matching CF tail blades.

Hopefully the weather allows a test flight tomorrow; with my experienced friend coming along of course.

I should note a couple of key points:

    - The $44 transmitter seems to work awesome. I got the software installed and servo's reversed piece of cake.  I think this is a great deal on a Tx for a beginner such as myself. That way, when I drop the $$$ for a Spectrum DX6i I can appreciate the difference truly.
    - I had to reverse my motor by swapping red/black wires
    - I had to reverse channel 6 (tail)

More tomorrow.... the G.F. is waiting for me upstairs...

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and support found here on this awesome site. Also, Marc... I will be donating again to receive your newly created 250 disc - my next heli (CopterX 250SE) is over 95% completed. Just need a motor, and battery!

Only suggestion is to put a couple of superman emblems on the canopy.

I should have thought of that! The color would have been perfect! I will order a new canopy for it and do exactly that! With any luck, that will make it fly like superman!

Well, took the BCP out today instead of the new one... Want to use it for practice... and good thing I did - some damage done to the BCP flybar/feathershaft so I am going to continue to practice on the BCP and when i actually get some hovering in reliably, then I'll take the "good Copter X 450SE " out for a test drive.

Wind was gusting higher than I would like today, which definately made it much harder for me to learn .. but I didn't care - I just wanted to get some flight (attempts) in!

    Sorry no videos yet!.
