Honeybee alternatives?
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:15:53 AM »
Hi everyone,

Im after some advice. I previously run RC cars alot. Got recently into flying with a micro 2.4ghz heli, not coax. Im looking to upgrade to a larger model. The Honeybee looked ideal. Watched all the nuttcaze vids for it. Was about to order one and there out of stock. So waited to find out they are discontinued.

So what should I get. I have a specific set of requirements.
I want it to be a reasonable size, eg honeybee size
I want to be able to fly it indoors
I want to be able to upgrade and mod it as I find this aspect of the hobby very rewarding.

The honeybee fit all these requirements. But what else will? Also please note im in the UK so kits, models and parts arent so readily available for me. UK distributers seem to be lacking or otherwise overpriced.

Cheers

A couple of things...   First one is:  :welcome: to the best forum on the planet :hi:

Now when you say you want to fly inside, where are you going to be flying, IE: inside a large gym, or in your garage???

It is still uncertain as to what ESky is doing with the HBFP V2, they maybe coming out with a new version (maybe FBL, maybe not) but nobody knows at this time (unless you know something the rest of us do not)... Sooooo we will just have to wait and see what happens there...

Now back to the size of space you will be flying in, the HBFP V2 and other 300 size helis are really to big to fly inside a house, yes you can hover but not really fly... A large gym or very large open space is better, a large open space outside is the best if there is NO WIND...

You may be better off with something like the mSR or similar as they are made for indoors...

If you have a large place to fly then you might want to check this one out  Walkera V200D01/D02 Flybarless....  Or just wait to see what ESky is coming out with...

BTW: you can still get them here: Esky Honey Bee V2 (Green) 4CH FP RC Helicopter RTF 2.4GHz they also have RED...

In the end, it is all up to you and you will get a lot of recommendations... So have fun and remember to order lot of spare parts as you will most likely crash a lot....   :220:

No problems RD54, you know I like to pick :laugh25: :laugh25: :laugh25: :laugh25:       :220:

I have heard that the Falcon 40's are not as strong and have more problems then the HBFP, but I have never had one (Falcon 40) so I can't say for sure....

Mark (flyingdeutschman for the new member ), that heli looks to be another good one for a beginner.... :220:

Thanks for the suggestions.

I did watch the videos on the Walkera V370D01, but it seems a little too basic. Not many mods and upgrades I can do. Im looking for something I can tinker with a little.

The Falcon 40, isnt that 3D?

cheers

Art-Tech does make a Falcon 3D, but it is a 400 size CP and is not the Falcon 40 made by Exceed.... Yes it can get very confusing in this hobby :laugh25: :laugh25: :laugh25: :laugh25:

Again, how much indoor space do you have to fly in???? :220:

We would hate for you to get something and now have enough room to fly in it.... :215:
