I have the IMAX b6 but i needed a separate powersupply because it only came with 2 alligator clamps to connect them to your 12V car lead acid battery.
I converted a Powersupply from a computer just like this movie explains.

Hi Everyone
Received the correct lead to connect the EC3 Battery lead to the Deans lead which came with the iMax B6 Charger and set it up to charge. Not knowing how long the Blade Charger might have taken to charge the 3Cell 11.1v 1800mAh battery, I can only report that it took 65minutes for the iMax to charge it to full. Is this about right?
Shall not have time for any 450 RADD flights for a while as I am off on a jolly on Friday - but please keep the comments and observations coming in. BTW, jorrick, that computer power supply looks far too compilcated for me even to contemplate. I'll stick to the iMax, at least for now.

:132: :132: Bazzer, no,it's not right. My imaxb6  is about 6months old so i would think it's similar, now i know you're no duffer coz you wer a skool master  :laugh25: :laugh25: however this is what i do,make sure both + and - are connected along with the balance connector. Then press and hold start button, the display should show AUTO and commence balance charging.my 2200mah batteries usually take about 30/40 mins,so something seems amiss with yours. The "GURUS" should be on this like bees on honey, with a more comprehensive(correct!!!!!!!) answer,  :130:

PS - Meant to ask this in my last post (the memory starts to go when you get older!) - I'm sure that once a setting has been made for a battery on the iMax it can be stored so you don't need to re-set it each time. I can't make too much sense of the manual - my fault, I'm sure - so can anyone tell me how it's done?  :thank-you:

Just found your post, phil. Thanks for the feedback. As I mentioned above, manuals and me do not always agree, despite my pedagogical background (ahem!):132: Next time I charge up, I'll bear in mind your advice - plus those of the other bees.

If you get the IMAX charger, get an higher amp power supply. Later on if you want to charge bigger batteries, you will have to have a good power supply. The IMAX is capable of 50 watt charging, so the PS should be at least that if you want to charge a big pack.

Now I have a 400W charger, but my power supply is only 15A at 12V, so just not enough...

Thanks elmar
The iMax I purchased came with an a/c adapter as part of the deal. Looking at the back, it states that it has an Input of 100-240v-1.5A (50-60 Hertz LPS) and an output of !2v (a straight line with a wiggly line beneath)5A. Evidently the supplier believes this to be compatible. At the moment I don't know if I shall be moving any higher than a 450 helicopter but thanks for the tip. Fireman - thanks for that info. I thought I'd seen a You Tube clip where someone had "saved," a setting but the voice was almost incoherent so I won't mention fromwhich part of the country it was based!

Bazjay, are you sure the output is a straight line with a wiggly line beneath it? That would say that the output is AC, and that can't be good. Just because the charger accepts only 11-15V DC.

And if you had to get another power supply, be careful, you buy power supply's per OUTput, not imput. It is a 5A power supply, not 1.5A, because that is the imput.

Hello Elmardus
I've included a photo of the a/c adapter which came with the iMax Charger. I hope you can see the straight and wiggly line. It is part of the Output line but that also says it is 12v (straight and wiggly) 1.5A.

As it came with the iMax, I am assuming that it should be compatible? However, thanks for the interest and the warning. I'm far from an expert and it's good to know people like you are keeping an eye on me!

That power supply is ok. It is very similar to the one I have.

There is a symbol here:  OUTPUT  12V  %  5A

Where the % is, that is the symbol I mean, that is one stripe with 3 dots below it, which means DC voltage.

This is DC voltage: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_VexMxYnip6A/TUCDfTK2sII/AAAAAAAADsE/reMg8Tl9-nA/DC_Symbol_l.png

and this is AC: http://www.clker.com/cliparts/3/b/8/4/1223615663567863842rsamurti_RSA_IEC_AC_Source_Symbol.svg.med.png

So your power supply is perfectly fine!  :130:
