Xtreme Brushed to Brushless signal Converter
« on: May 04, 2012, 04:19:27 PM »
Has anyone used one of these Xtreme Brushed to Brushless signal Converter's before? I wanted to use it on a Brushless Conversion for the Walkera V370D01 and HoneyBee FP V2.

This is actually going to be going in my Walkera V370D01 that I just picked up at HeliDirect - http://helidirect.com/walkera-v370d01-flybarless-metal-edition-24ghz-4ch-rc-helicopter-rtf-p-21786.hdx

I plan on using this brushless motor

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=14741&aff=41515

And this ESC

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=15205

I'm also hoping to get one of these Guru Z Xeon frames to use for my V370D01.

http://www.addictive-hobby.com/product_info.php?products_id=1352{3}5{10}16{5}9

Between the flybarless design, the fiber frame and brushless upgrade, I'm hoping to create one seriously cool FP.  :125: :125:

It will definitely be a monster for sure. I also bought most of my total brushless mods from HobbyKing. Cant beat the prices.
The 3 way rx has to be mounted in a flat horizontal position. After looking at the frame, you might have to install it on the rear of the frame. What pinion gear are you going to use?

I'm not sure what pinion I'm gonna use just yet, depends if I can get a fiber frame or not, haven't found much on Addictive-Hobby.com yet and they seem to be the only place to get the frames at the moment. I e-mailed GuruZ to see if their company is still active, waiting for a response now.

If I get the frame I planned on mounting the Rx in the back so that I can use a larger battery, I wanna add some weight to the V370 to offset the power increase from the brushless motor, also if I can add enough weigh to require more throttle to hover, it'll have a bit better stability  with the higher headspeed then a lower headspeed on a light heli  :coool:

 :hi: Marc

Maybe you should also look for a brushless tail rotor, as the stock tail rotor may not be able to keep up with the additional torque and speed of the new rotor or it'll work too hard and will give up soon. I don't know if that could be an issue

Marc. Have you done a 300 sized fuselage build yet? If not this would be a good time for one. It would also add the weight your looking for.

papa. I cant speak for the particular tail motor on on this model, but I have seen brushless motors installed on the 200  sized ( walkera) helis and i have done the main brushless mod on my v400 and ran them over 50  flights without any problems or differences from the tail motor from then when the main motor was stock. Although.. It would be a great idea to go brushless with the tail also. It gives the tail alot more authority.

Can someone recommend how much A esc i need for a brushless motor for the V200d02 ?
I can get a 20A esc for 7 bucks.(cheap in the netherlands) but i don't know how much A the brushless motor from the V200d01 is...

But how does that converter work? because i wanted to buy a converter for the Walkera 4#3b. That is a brushed heli and to make it brushless i needed something more then only a converter.

My Walkera Uflys which is a little bigger than the V200 uses a 18A ESC for its brushless motor. I think a 20A ESC will work fine with the V200D01 brushless motor. That converter picks the signal from the Rx(for a brushed motor) and converts it to a brushless motor signal. Besides the brushless motor you'll also need a brushless ESC if you want to convert your 4#3b  :130:

I would go with at least a 20A, so it will work.
You can use a brushless motor off of a D01 or any of the brushless conversion parts that Nuttcaze showed on reply # 5 on this thread.
The motor that he is going to use is around $8.00 where as the v200D01 motors are around $ 30.00. I would use the one Marc is going to put in his v370 project. Its just as good as a motor as the walkera ones but by far less price. The only thing is that you will have to find a pinion gear for the motor which the walkera motors come with it.
http://www.wowhobbies.com/hm-180z-z-24brushlessmotor-1-1.aspx
The converter converts the brushed signal from the stock brushed ESC to a brushless signal for the brushless ESC. Without the converter- the brushless ESC will not recognize the signal from the stock brushed ESC.
For a brushless conversion you will need  a brushless ESC,signal converter, brushless motor, and pinion gear.
