Honeybee FP V2 video
« on: June 23, 2012, 09:54:45 PM »
near the end of this video, when it bounces off the ground, is when it loses a little lift. landing was not as graceful as i would have liked, but i got it stable and down in one piece. this is the second new motor i had as a backup, so all i can figure is that with the temps in the 90's and high humidity, that the heat is affecting the motor or esc? i only fly one pack at a time then bring it in to cool for a while before going back out to do another. i guess tomorrow, i will try landing mid flight for a few minutes rather than trying to fly a whole pack at once in this heat. a decent video none the less and i am making progress. just stinks trying to learn it one pack at a time, as it is not the easiest one to learn on to begin with.
enjoy :)

Nice vid and flying. One question; Why you still have on the training gear?   :132:

thanks FH... still working on my bailout and landings but was gonna take them off today and try one flight to see how i would do... then this lifting issue popped up, and i decided not to risk it just yet.

Nice flying!  I agree that you don't need training gear any longer, and you'll really like the way the Bee handles with them off.  BTW, try the direct drive mod with the CP3 tail motor and you'll never go back to stock.

yes, i agree that it will handle better without t/g. i saw a big difference when i took off the longer ones and put on my shorties, but it isnt time for me to completely remove them just yet. i am not yet at a point where i can consistently recover from mistakes without dumping the throttle. i have plenty of patience though, and the day for removal will come soon enough ;).

:bravo: Nice flight Spooner. Looking good  :130:

I like the little training gear, I have just started flying without my t/g but mine was HUGE and I can really tell the difference in handling now it's gone. I can't wait to be able to do FF like you, makes me want to take my HB out now but it's a little too breezy atm. :saad: Maybe later

thanks PGC... they are kinda "cute" arent they, lol. i made those custom, as well as a set that are really long, from kite rods and a handmade resin mold :).

Nice flying alright. Im sure you would be fine without the legs. But end of the day your decision. Whilst you are just hovering around like that the Bee motors do get hot and dont like it. Maybe shorten your flights to 6 mins and see how that goes.
But once again well done mate :130: :130:

thanks diggiz :). yeah... the heat here has been killer with high humidity. looking to do this cp3 motor and 3 in 1 mod as soon as budget allows. will have to keep my practice early in the morning or late in the evening, just before sunset. working second shift doesnt give me much time during the week, and have to make up for it on the weekends. gotta get this cp3 motor out before i damage my 4 in 1, and put the stock back in, until i can get the parts i need to do the mod. the video was done with the stock motor in it :).

Hi spoonerrw  :hi:

Very nice and calm flying mate  :bravo:  :bravo:  :bravo:

Your V2 looked very nice flying around at that nice almost scale speed, really enjoyed seeing the video .

I noticed that just after your heli losseing lift your battery alarm came on, maybe your battery is giving short fly times in the heat  :132: i dont know really but worth a thought.

thanks Colin :)
the first two times was within a couple minutes. i thought about the battery as well, but the meter showed plenty of voltage and once i put the super motor back in... it was fine. those stock motors just cant handle the kind of heat we have been having.

Arrh right i am with you now  :130: I just got a v2 the other day and although it is not two warm over here in the uk the v2 motor gets quite hot . Did you fit the super motor in the v2 with the stock rx if so i may just do that .

yeah... i am using the stock rx, which is fine to use, but what i have learned here is that the esc is the problem and will eventually burn out running this motor. to get around this, you remove it and hack in the 3 in 1 from the cp3 which resolves that problem. mine is on order, and as soon as i get it, i will take out the stock 4 in 1 and replace it with that one. for now... i just fly on a limited basis and closer to sunset when the temps are not as bad.

Apart from changing the motor/ mounts/ blade, do the electrics need modified when the CP3 motor is fitted?
(have fitted the fuse mode)
And does the 4in1 need adjusting or will it fly straight after fitting?
(new to this and want to know what to expect -never sure if its me or the bits I have fitted).

Will the CP3 motor put extra strain on the 4in1?

Thanks for reading
Al

By most accounts the Super 370 motor will put a lot strain on the 4 in 1's esc.  Most people either hack in an external esc or replace the 4 in 1 with a the CP3 3 in 1.  You can either use the rx from the 4 in 1 or if you have a different tx/rx setup (mine is Spektrum), you can use that.
