Looking good!

To pimp this topic a little more (maybe it becomes sticky in the future?), here a video I posted before in the vid section.

What's the smallest place you've ever hovered in with your King 3 or don't you fly indoors?

I'd not recommend even trying to fly it indoors, but I'm just curious about other people's experiences.

Flying my King 3 with 3800Kv with 11T pinion.
Also added a KDS flybar which is 1 cm shorter.

Did not test the Xtreme blades!

i used those extreme blades for a while on my belt cp... the major problem i had is that they NEVER BREAK no matter how hard you crash.... this means that EVERY other part of the heli breaks as the force is transmitted through the shafts etc :( and when they hit the tail boom, thats gone too.... i went through about 5 tail booms with these blades before i finally had the sense to go back to wooden ones!! just my experience.... you're probably a much better pilot than me lol

Yeah, that's the 'downside' of using such (individual) upgrades. There's still damage in a crash, but just in different and often times more expensive places indeed.

It depends though, a full metal rotor head in a matching strong(er) frame usually means the heli will be more durable. In such cases you'll have to upgrade the entire helicopter, otherwise the heli will break at it's weak spots over and over again. Metal will bend though, which can be a pain as well.

I think one could say, many such upgrades aren't exactly meant to be crashed. :)

Phemox I had a copterX head on my Belt and with a crash only my CX head broke, my frame and rest was undamaged.
Upgrades you put on your heli when you can fly and hover. Not when you are learning.
So you do not crash that often  :130:

The Xtreme blades are way to heavy and flexi for the performance I like.
I changed back to wood and ordered some CF ones :)

Yes, I agree entirely.   :iagree:

Such upgrades definitely aren't for beginners to begin with indeed, but that wasn't quite my point. ;) :)

It's easy to think such upgrades improve the durability of the helicopter, when that doesn't really have to be the case. A novice or advanced pilot will simply not crash (often) at all.

Thanks for the info on those Xtreme blades though, I had been thinking about switching to them.

Sometimes, I wonder why people complain about good products.... just because they are cheap.  :215:

The days of cheap meaning bad are long gone, ever since RTF took off.

The King 3 in this case really doesn't have crap electronics, although you obviously get what you pay for which means it won't be on par with a 700$ helicopter.

Quote
If you don't mind paying low price and put in little work on RC Helicopter, then King 3 is your best bet.

The King 3 is probably the ultimate choice when it comes to it's price point versus what you'll get for it. I'm not trying to be a fanboy here, but it's a bit stupid people look at the price only.

It's an awesome machine that really flies great and in my humble opinion really has no bad stock electronics.

Sure they aren't the best, but they are pretty much unbeatable for their price.

Taking into consideration that more than half of all failing electronics has to do with how people use them, the King 3 is a deal hard to beat with anything else actually... That is, unless you want a bigger RC helicopter, as it's pretty small.

I use 2200 20C MAh HK lipo's in my K3.
Over 10 minutes of flight time which is great.
The cost less then 10$!

On my HBFP V2 I lost my antenna too, I soldered a new piece of wire on the print plate!

I like the K3 too, the thing I did not like that much was the ESC & 3900KV motor.
The ESC became very hot and I did not like the way my throttle responce was translated to action.
And the best upgrade was a programmable TX/rx combi from HK and made my K3 a nice machine.

Never head real problems with the bullets, and added 3.5 bullets when I installed a new HW esc.

I love the K3 setup and build more then the Belts one.
