Align esc and 250 motor problems

  I just put together an HK 250 gt with a Align 250 stock esc and motor I purchased off ebay for this build. The problem is that the motor doesn't seem to have alot of power ( this is aligns older style motor not the sp version)I have a Trex  250 heli thats seems to have endless power. (sp style motor) I'm not sure if it,s the esc or motor. I was looking for some input on how to check these or is this just the way the older style motor acts? I need to run about 70% throttle to get it to hover at 5 deg. pitch and it feels real lazy. At 85% it feels like my trex 250 which is 60% @5 deg pitch to hover.I have checked for binds and everything else. The HK flys nice but I don't have any power to pull out of a bad situation. And still being a heli rookie I tend to make a Oops now and then.

You can put the motor to your T-250 and see how it goes.
Or maybe you need a higher pinion?

Yes, That would be the easy way. I'm trying to learn how to check these things out. You never know when you may need to use the same info again or it may help some one else out.

Hey Pinguin, I took your advice and put my Trex 250 in my HK250 gt. I'll just say I have a new motor on it's way. Thanks for your reply with this. I had thought about doing that, but was hoping to find a way to check it out first. Just goes to show you not everyone on ebay is honest. Now I know why I got it so cheap.

Installed new motor in my Hk 250 Gt last night. Up up and away. Much better. Still would like to know how to check these motors out. Anyone have any input on a way to check them?
