V3 flys :woohooguy: :woohooguy: :woohooguy:

After a miss hap having the correct prop rotation but wrong props, and a quick repair! :angryred: :angryred:
All went well once I figured out what I did wrong. :132:
Ready to fly weight finished at 54.9 oz  :212: can't get the weight any less (other then using carbon fiber)
I used 1/2” aluminum tubing and 1/8” plex some nylon screws in place of steel.
One thing I am thinking he motors are larger then I need. (amp hogs) :222:
I will take some video and post it.

That's pretty heavy, what battery are you using and what flight times are you getting? :132:
Nice video btw  :138:

The battery is a 2600 ma 40c I can get 6 to 7 minutes with a 1800ma 40c I get around 5 minutes, the weight of  the frame bare was real light the added weight is the motors other stuff.
Bottom line I think the motors are too large! and amp hogs.
Not much I can remove, I may look for aluminum screws and nuts.
I did post the weight of the frame but not sure when.
As I said in past posts other then carbon fiber or 450 or 500 tail booms not sure if I can loose any more weight.
The .125 plex is lighter then the .040 white aluminum.
Think on a tri copter next!

Are the batteries 3 cell or 6 cell? If I recall the weight of the frame was 7 oz (210g) which is not heavy, the motors must be too heavy then.  :slaphead:

@Papa.

They are 3 cell, If I recall the motors are 4 oz each.
The other motors I have are 3 oz each.
I am flying a half throttle with power to spare.
But it flys like a dream.
I flew 4 battery packs today when I got home from work! :224:

Thanks RCREDHOTS

I'm thinking of buying 3 cell 2300 mAh, should give me around 6-7 minutes. According to Hobbyking, the motor I bought wheighs 2 oz, but you can never completely trust those specs  :slaphead:

And what is the best software to use to re=flash the board for the tri copter.
And one last question what operation software PC windows 7 / Windows XP or?

I think his arms are 40 cm long on his tri, but I also want to know the best software to flash the control board, as I couldn't get the recommended program installed on Windows 7, going to try on XP another day, but Windows 7 would be better to work on :125:
Thanks

Yup Papa is right, my arms are 40cm. I started with 50cm but reduced them after a crash with no loss to stability.

I use Win7 and IE.

I used this guide to flash my KK: http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?910-ARCH001-S-NEW-TRICOPTER

With this flashtool: http://lazyzero.de/en/modellbau/kkmulticopterflashtool

Hope that helps, let me know if you have more Qs.  :130:

Thanks Ratty. Couldn't get it to work on my desktop which has 64bit Windows 7, but I was able to run it on 32 bit Windows 7. My control board should arrive tomorrow or next week, then I'll flash the newest firmware. Ratty and RCREDHOTS, do you think it's best to use + or X configuration on a quadcopter?
Thanks

Youre welcome.  :130:

I dont think there is a diff in the way they fly, but if you want to film then most people use X so there is no (less) motor and prop in view.

I was given to understand that + is more stable, but X is livelier :132:

Hey Guys
One thing in the + mode and I guess in any mode mark the front! :130:
I used a red battery Velcro strap, the local Walmart wanted $3.50 for a 3 inch  Styrofoam ball and then I would have to paint it.
So far so good with my Quad as I said I love it.
I am flying it around 5 to 6 minutes as sweet as can be, been flying a little faster each day.
One thing I did notice or maybe it's me because of my past with large model airplanes I am using the rudder and aileron to turn.
But with it nose down a little in FF you can turn as if it was a airplane with aileron only.
I am also a person that flys with my thumbs on the transmitter.
Oh thanks RATTY for the info, I am going to flash my other board this weekend and maybe cut my Tri Copter parts Friday or Saturday.
