LOL .. Great idea

I'm sure it could be done some how ..
You will need some heavy duty servos for the steering.
Let us know how the project goes :)

Sounds like a great idea, but how safe would it be??? We all know that the best pilots crash because of electronics that failed and I know you would never do anything to hurt your Princess, sooo just be carefull, they don't call them accidents for nothing.....Let us know if you come up with anything..... :130:

You should probably start at your local hobby shop and check out the servos for those big boy planes, talk to the owner about what might work and stuff.....good luck :130:

I've Seen It Done Before. Worked Like A Charm. With The Plastic Wheels Its Not Really That Hard On The Servos. But You Do Need High Voltage Servos For Sure.

It might be easier to just bring the controls for it out behind the Jeep so you can walk behind it and control it while still hanging onto it. Safer, too although not as much fun.

yes you can do it. in short ;)
but you have to be electronically inclined :)
question is i guess, how much of a control you want to have?
only accelerator? brake? steering?
accelerator IS electric so now is the question is it just on/off or does it have some kind of variable acceleration,
brake - mechanical or electrical?
steering probably is mechanical so you'll have to maybe install some electrical actuator in the steering box. (and im not talking servos, im talking big boy stuff) though
now im thinking....  how does it looks that jeep, is it smaller one? (than servo may be ok) but if its bigger one, than servo will not be strong enough... (also do you want it to be steerable only from RC? or also from the little Jeep)
that may be definitely awesome project if you really want to get into it.

so servo for steering, or rather gearbox could be something like this --> http://servocity.com/html/spg425a-4_3_standard_rotation.html or this... --> http://servocity.com/html/spg645a-4_3_standard_rotation.html with higher POWA!

you guys are awesome.thanks for all the ideas.well, the jeep i had my eye one is just the simple electric one from toy r us.i don't want anything fancy,i just would like to sit at the picnic table with my wife and drive the jeep around us(wife says rock crawling was out of the question, due to the precious cargo and all.)I'd really would like to keep the original stuff in it and just control the steering, braking and accelerator.
we can rebuild it.better.faster.stronger.

well, i'll tell y ou how my project would looks like, so by any means, you don't have to follow it....

so first i will take a look at the electric car i have, and define what i want it to do.
than define who can control it - only you with the remote, or passenger and you, or certain functions only by passenger.
so you want to definitely be able to drive car forward - there is a gas pedal that is connected to an electrical gizmo, that make this thing go vroom... now if only you want to control it - that's pretty easy, you can either gut-it and attach servo directly, or through some pull rod. you 've looked at the pictures so you already have an idea of what you are up for, from me, i would just say that you can run everything from little car's battery, especially all the servos, though youll have to use some BEC to step down the voltage.... uff... so much ideas :) i hope you'll have fun with this project...
